329 calories: It looks like sushi, but it's not. It's actually toasted multi-grain bread with tofu spread, topped with Roma tomato and English cucumber slices and fresh herbs...and sweet cherries on the side.

Driving this car makes me happy. It's fun, and simply smoothes out the multitude of ruffles I encounter on any given day.

Last night's dinner

Baked beer can chicken, stewed tomatoes/peppers/onions/jalapenos and dumplings, collards, steamed butternut squash, and a glass of wine. All for 640 calories on a night I was falling short. I still had 148 to play with after this feast!

New Kittens next door

My next door neighbor found Momma cat and 5 brand new kittens in her window well the day they were born. Momma cat is a stray we've never seen before. One kitten was deformed and died, but the others are doing well.

Dinner for One, night 1

I would normally have stood by the open fridge and grazed til I was full when left to my own devices, but clearly I have made some progress. This was dinner the first night hubby was out of town on business. Lean Cuisine single serve steamer bags of pasta entrees....OMG! They're good and filling. My little salad weren't nothing to sneeze at either..black beans...for real! I was being good even when nobody was looking. Whole meal with wine, regular Ranch dressing AND cheese...in the neighborhood of 650 calories (I don't have my notebook handy).

First supper on new plates

I told my husband since we were eating "out" less, I brought "out" IN! This was a 3 cheese whole wheat tortillini with yellow squash, onions, asparagus, and mushrooms. It was 771 calories with the wine included, but keep in mind, my only meal so far today was Nacho Brunch, so for 7:30pm the calories were due to be had and I still have some for bedtime.

I've never seen one like this. He fluttered up under the canopy on the deck. Very photogenic, and sat on my finger a bit, but I was so smitten I didn't get a picture of that.

Fishes

More serving pieces. We got 4 of everything except the watermelon plate in the "Dishes" photo. That was the last one of those. We got 4 so there are plenty of options throughout the week and then we can use them all on weekends when my in-laws visit. You know, just to add some pizzazz to the food that's been toned down a bit. ;) These are considerably smaller than our regular dinner plates, but our dinners are smaller now too!

weighdown: For the past 15 years my son has been my greatest priority. We came through the death of my Mom, a divorce, and me going to Grad School, and he walked me down the aisle to remarry 4 years ago, having found a wonderful creature with whom I would love nothing more than to grow old. My little bird is nearing the edge of the nest and I've decided it's high time to make MY Self a priority. The last 15 years didn't exactly go as planned and my relationship with food blossomed in ALL the wrong ways. I know what I need to do and, in fact, girded up my loins and began again last week. This time is already different.
